My day began with a taza de café and some eggs for breakfast before heading to my first day of programming with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institution (CHCI)! My CHCI cohort and I learned about how bills work and were able to do a simulation for a hearing where everyone had a role, which was fun. After programming, the HEP/CAMP people and I went to Canes to grab some quick food and recorded our introduction for the association’s Instagram story.

Today was a very exciting day as it was my first day interning at the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), which I had been preparing for since the day I learned I would be interning with them. It was a very laid-back day since in the office we are in a transitioning period this week, so there wasn't much to do besides small onboarding tasks. Andres and I met the other summer fellows and got lunch with them at the Western Market near GWU. After we were out, Ray took Andres and me for a coffee at Dunkin and some wings at this nice place near the White House, which was so nice of him. After that, Andres and I decided to go on a late-night run together, which was an amazing de-stressor after being so busy with orientation week.

Since we are still in that transitioning period in the LULAC office, the interns and I were allowed to attend some hearings on Capitol Hill, where I was able to watch a crucial hearing on the defunding of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). Seeing an actual hearing in person was so nice, especially after doing the simulation on Monday. Additionally, I was able to hear Representative Jasmine Crockett in person, which was amazing! After the hearing, I went straight to the grocery store in Columbia Heights because I wanted to make enchiladas, which turned out to be good!
