Final Goodbyes - our final day in DC

Tuesday

Today was a very exciting day, as it was my first Tuesday back in the office after two weeks, following the lobbying from week nine. The office was slow and quiet since a lot of the fellows had already left the week prior, but I was able to help with some convention work. After work, a few of us wanted to go to the movie theatre one last time before we went home and watched The Fantastic 4, which was amazing. I had never watched any of the movies from the franchise, so it inspired me to watch the older ones for sure.

Friday

For our final day in DC, CHCI had a final programming day where we learned about the opportunities we get as alumni, and after some of us did some quick souvenir shopping. Jackie and I went on a final matcha run before making it back to a final dinner with the cohort at Western Market. We then had plans of going to see the monuments at night as a cohort, but there were a few not going, so I said some goodbyes. This was my first time seeing the monuments at night, so it was nice to do it as a final event with our cohort. When we finished, everybody said goodbye to us HEP/CAMP people, as it would be our last time seeing them before walking back to our dorms. Back at the dorms, the HEP/CAMP crew took one final picture together before saying goodbye to each other. This moment was such a bittersweet moment as I'm sad to see everyone go back home, but I'm excited to see the amazing places they'll go. I am so grateful for this entire experience and all the people who made it possible; Thank you to the HEP/CAMP Association, Andres Hurtera, Joanna Peña-Rodriguez, Patrick Doone, Virginia Flores, and anyone else who made my time in DC possible.
