Today was an exciting day for me, as my sisters were coming to D.C. to visit for the weekend. For the days leading up to this weekend, I had been preparing and thinking about what I wanted to do and show them. After arriving, we left their suitcases at the GWU dorms and headed over to NoMa-Gallaudet to visit a place called La Cosecha, where we enjoyed a feast of poke bowls, matcha, and excellent empanadas.

We then did some shopping and exploring around the area before heading over to the National Monuments. We decided to do the Abraham Lincoln Statue, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and pass by the Washington Monument as well. We were very tired by the end of the night due to all the walking, but felt very accomplished.
Friday
My sisters and I decided to go to Georgetown today and visit the many stores it had to offer, but we began by going to a seafood spot where we tried a really good lobster roll. Afterwards, we did some shopping at TJ Maxx and Trader Joe's to buy some snacks for the 4th of July fireworks show on the Hill. We met up with the rest of the HEP/CAMP interns and headed over to the Hill, where we found a good spot to watch the fireworks and the live music being played. Once the show was over, we decided to rest for a bit before we went on a late-night hot dog run close to the dorm, which was so good!
Saturday
On my sisters' final day in D.C. we decided to explore as much as possible! We began in Chinatown, where we got to try some really good food, including one of my favorite dishes: General Tso's Chicken. We then headed back to NoMa, where we did some serious souvenir shopping and I took them to my favorite matcha café nearby, which they loved. Our next stop was visiting the White House, since it is pretty close to the dorms. I then took my sisters to the Kennedy Center, which is also really close to GWU, before heading over to dinner where we got to see a really nice sunset together! The final place we saw is a place called Carbonara, which is one of my favorite food spots in D.C., and they loved it just as much as me! Seeing my sisters was an amazing experience, and I'm so glad I was able to show them around D.C., because the city has so much to offer!
