Today I woke up early to get ready to play pickleball. Bryan, Pedro, and I left together and it was a 20-minute ride on the metro. Once we got there, we played a match with some people teaching us the rules of the game in more detail. After a few rounds of playing with them, we got some pizza provided at the pickleball event. We came across two other Capital Hill Interns and got to know more about each other and our placements. It was a great time playing pickleball with them as well.

Today like every Monday we went to the George Washington Center for CHCI programming. We started the morning with breakfast and dove straight to our check-in activity where we gave positive words of wisdom to the interns we shared a table with. We had our GW session and spoke about the importance of voting. Lunch came around and some of my fellow interns and I went to Raising Canes for lunch and this was my second time having it. After lunch, we had CHCI leadership topics on self-management & conflict resolution which were very informative.

Today I woke up, got to work, and attended our daily morning intern check-in. My supervisor Dr. Mike invited Emoni and I out for lunch where we were able to talk about the upcoming events and how we are going to prepare for them. After lunch, I went to the National Museum of African American History and Culture to drop off a group reservation form for the 1890 Scholars. I later came back to the office and finished up some of the assignments I had to do.

Today I woke up, got to work, and attended our morning intern check-in as usual. I was able to finalize the signs needed for the 1890 scholars. I started on certificates as well and helped Emoni become knowledgeable about the mission and programs of the Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement (OPPE).

Happy 4th of July!!

Today I woke up and got ready to go see the parade along with the other 5 HEP/CAMP interns. We got there early at 10 AM but the parade did not start until 11:45 AM. We got there early enough for us to find a good spot to watch the parade--it was a very cool experience to be in Washington, D.C. for the Fourth of July. After the parade, we visited the Eastern Market to get some lunch and went back to our rooms. Later in the evening, we headed to the Capital alongside the CHCI interns to watch the fireworks. It was an amazing opportunity to be in D.C. on the fourth of July.

Today was a slow day. I got up and got ready for work and joined the meeting I have with the 1890 Liaisons every Friday regarding the incoming of the 1890 scholars. After the meeting, I continued to work on the certificates for the rest of the day. After work, I ordered groceries for the next week and they were delivered pretty late around 10 pm but overall it was a good work week.
