Internship

Serve. Educate. Empower.

The National HEP/CAMP Association has partnered with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to offer a paid 10-week summer internship in Washington, D.C. to students from farmworker backgrounds. Interns will work in various USDA agencies 40 hours/week from Monday to Friday and must be available to work during core business hours between 6:30 am – 6:00 pm Eastern Time.

There is NO LIMIT to the number of student applications that can be submitted by any given program.

2024 Timeline

January: Application opens

February 29: Application due & reviewed

March/April: Internship candidates selected
Internship Program Date: May 25 - August 3

​

These internships are open to current CAMP students, alumni, and HEP graduates attending a post-secondary institution.  Those with agriculture-related academic programs should be strongly encouraged to apply, but keep in mind, that the USDA is a massive bureaucracy and has needs in a multitude of positions covering almost every college and university discipline.

 

This is a separate internship from the Association’s summer internship program and does not include CHCI’s orientation week or Friday leadership seminars.

Eligibility

Applicant must currently be enrolled in a post-secondary institute and meet one of the following criteria:

​

  • Former or current CAMP student

  • HEP graduate

​

Candidates must be able to independently work and live in D.C.

Selected Participants will receive,

​

  • Round-trip transportation to Washington, D.C.

  • Housing at George Washington University

  • Up to $6,800 Stipend

  • Transportation subsidy for employment

  • Networking, social and cultural experiences in D.C.
